Around The Area
The TransCanada Trail
The Trans Canada Trail passes just a mile from Shoreline Stays and weaves through the surrounding region, offering accessible routes for hiking, mountain biking, and winter snowshoeing.
From there, the nearby Elk Link Trail connects Erickson to the Riding Mountain area — an easy way to extend your exploration from the calm of Katie Lake.
Just a short drive from Shoreline Stays, this iconic park offers a huge range of outdoor experiences — from hiking and wildlife viewing to kayaking, hiking, and nature photography.
You’ll find beaches on Clear Lake, scenic forest trails, and wildlife like deer and the occasional bear. Maybe even a moose if you are lucky!

Visit Wasagaming and soak in the atmosphere. It’s the heart of RMNP, located on the eastern shore of Clear Lake. You’ll find a sandy beach, walking trails, small shops, cafés, and great ice cream!
RMNP is a convenient day trip from Shoreline Stays for a swim, a lakeside stroll, or a simple meal out before returning to the quiet of Katie Lake.
Due to Parks Canada's proactive measures to prevent the spread of zebra mussels in Clear Lake
motorized watercraft are not permitted on Clear Lake at present.
Paddle craft are allowed on all park lakes, following a mandatory inspection.
We will update with Parks Canada policy for the 2026 summer season as soon as possible.
